The American Legion's success depends entirely on active membership, participation, and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives. "It is extremely important that we spread the word throughout our community that The American Legion, working tirelessly for the past several years, was successful in helping our Congress understand what we've always known – veterans who served our great nation since World War II have been exposed to and engaged in hostile conflicts all over the world. They should be recognized as wartime-era veterans. With the passage of the LEGION Act, they have the recognition that they have long deserved.

It's our opportunity to give back to the men and women who support and defend our nation. All our volunteers, officers and leadership run the day-to-day operations of the post. Our volunteers run fundraising events to support our veterans our community and help maintain our post.

Our veterans their families and our volunteers participate in Local Parades, Street renaming, memorial services to show solidarity. We give back to our community by providing sponsorships to our local high schools, little league teams and area colleges. We raise money to support our veterans and our community by running charity events like golf outings, steak & cigar nights, and other events all in the spirit of giving.

We have a newly renovated post for our veterans their family and our volunteers to come enjoy. It's a place for our veterans to enjoy a beverage with a newfound friend in our members only lounge. Our post has indoor and outdoor areas where we offer space for meetings, charity events and parties.

The American legion's rules now allow for all Honorably Discharged Military member; regardless of dates of service, as well as their son or Grandson, Sisters, Daughter, or Granddaughter and spouse's female & males to join.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

We have new leadership at East Meadow post #1082. We have a new Commander, new officers, and a new chairperson, who voluntarily run the day-to-day operations of the post. They work diligently to help lead in the efforts to support our veterans their families, the community and our post.

Come down and take part in the Patriotism, and stay for the fun and festivities.
